One of the tenents of planning for development is recognizing one’s
place in the continuum of history. We have preserved the heritage and the look and
feel of the land by asking conscious, careful questions in the past. We owe it to
future generations to continue that cautious approach to "building out" the land
and controlling growth. Vermont is so very conscious of its architectural history
and the look of its towns and cities. I chose to explore the concept of
development through the transformation of the state's architecture up through
time in a lighthearted fashion. Times change, styles adapt, needs evolve. How
can we, as a culture and a population, preserve the past, live wisely in the present,
and plan for the future?
